Introduction
The Alienware M15 R7 has occupied root on the shelves, ready to replace the M5 / M6 within Dell’s competencies of mid-range gaming laptops. It has some heavy boots to fill – the previous generation was widely regarded as one of the best gaming laptop options on the market, thanks to its affordable design considerations and focus on performance over more sophisticated features.
With Intel’s next-generation processors and more room for the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards, the R7 has come to deliver the Alienware M15 experience we all know and love up to 2022 standards. We put this latest iteration in its wake through two weeks of intense work and play.
Alienware M15 R7 Review: Design And Aesthetics
If I were the casting director of the upcoming Star Wars movie, I would have released the Alienware m15 R7 in a significant part. The m15 R7 has a sci-fi vibe, and honeycomb openings, rear-ringed LED and illuminated alien head logo accentuate a laptop’s aura faithful to Alienware DNA.
The m15 R7 has a “seamless luxury” feel. The painting work on the dark black side of the moon is refreshing to look at: sometimes playful and sometimes whimsical and peculiar. I like the design. It is modern but has an artistic style. The quality of construction is vital, too.
Although not entirely metallic, the body is made of plastic quite strong, although that’s not necessarily bad. Considering the specifications, it includes, the laptop is surprisingly thin. I’m not going to say that the m15 R7 is as light as a MacBook Air. It’s stupid even to think. For a professional-grade laptop, the m15 R7 is comparable to a gaming laptop full of power in terms of weight and thickness. But yes, the bulky power adapter with this laptop needs to lose some weight.

Alienware m15 Features
However, this isn’t all if you’re watching for a portable machine. The Alienware M15 R7 weighs under 1kg and has a monstrous power adapter. This thing is enormous and takes up considerable space in the backpack. Of course, a lot is going on under the hood here, and the R7 needs all the juice it can get, but seriously – this brick is a plague.
You still get the classic Alienware RGB logo on the back and the super stylish RGB colour band surrounding the ports. Similarly, hexagonal vents still align in the housing overhead the keyboard. Our evaluation unit came in Dark Side of the Moon – another elegant way of saying black and in a matte finish that felt particularly nice under the hand. I was impressed by the ability of this material to evade lasting fingerprints. Although the dust appears as soon as it lands.
Alienware M15 R7 Review: Display And Speakers
Once the lid remains open, you will see a 15.6-inch QHD LCD (2560 x 1440). There is no OLED or mini LED option here. But the display looks fantastic, ideal for games, content consumption and video editing. The collection offers high-quality colour reproduction, and the refresh rate has shifted to 240Hz. Serious gamers, who are the target audience of this laptop, will love the speedy response times of the screen and its high refresh rate. Above the screen is a 720p webcam with two array microphones. Sadly, the lack of a 1080p webcam on a laptop as expensive as this is appalling. The m15 R7 has excellent speakers. They sound complete and well-balanced, good enough to play games, watch movies and listen to casual music. then new here..
Alienware M15 R7 Review: Keyboard And Trackpad
The m15 R7 has a great keyboard. The keys on the m15 R7 are nice to type; the critical travel is relatively deep at 1.5mm with good tactility. The keys are good enough for everyday navigation, although typing for more extended periods became a bit awkward. The RGB backlight looks especially good. The touchpad has a glass surface that ensures smooth tracking, but its more minor character is odd. But the people buying this laptop are probably professional gamers, and I think they’ll have a game mouse hooked up all the time. However, a larger touchpad would have made a big difference.
Conclusion
The Alienware M15 R7 is a certified power, and if you’re married to this brand’s expert engineering and unique aesthetics. It’s the best value within the current range.
